Honduras's Special Human Rights Prosecutor has admitted a complaint filed by patient Santos Fúnez against the Medical Association, and will investigate whether the association's informational assemblies violated the constitutional right to health care and complied with Honduran law.

The Health Ministry says it will clear most outstanding payments to 273 contract doctors by Friday, as the medical profession's 37-day protest has led to 2,000–3,000 canceled surgeries and more than 12,000 missed outpatient consultations nationwide.

More than 400 interim-contract physicians in Honduras are owed up to nine months of salary; after Friday's failed talks with the Health Ministry yielded no payment date, doctors are continuing nationwide hospital assemblies that suspend scheduled patient care.

Twenty-eight public-health doctors in Gracias a Dios department, including some in remote communities, have gone without pay for up to eight months in 2026, and at least ten are considering resigning despite continuing to staff the Puerto Lempira Hospital and outlying clinics.
