Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Honduras Daily (“Honduras Daily,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent English-language news publication operated from the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit hondurasdaily.com or subscribe to our newsletter, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights and choices you have. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect a limited amount of information, in three ways:
- Automatically, when you visit the site. Through analytics we collect standard technical data such as your IP address (used to infer approximate location, e.g. country), browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URLs, and the dates and times of your visits.
- When you subscribe to the newsletter. We collect the email address you provide and the place on the site where you signed up (the “signup source”). Your approximate location may be inferred from your IP address.
- When you contact us or submit a tip. If you email us or use a submission form, we receive whatever you choose to send — typically your email address, your message, and any information contained in it.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly collect more than what is described above.
How we use your information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site and our editorial product.
- To understand how the site is used in aggregate (which stories and sections are read, where readers come from) so we can make editorial and product decisions.
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to respond to your messages.
- To protect the site against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure site traffic. It sets analytics cookies and similar identifiers in your browser to distinguish visitors and measure usage. We use this only to understand aggregate readership — not to build advertising profiles. We do not currently use advertising cookies or any programmatic ad network.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading the site.
Service providers we share data with
We rely on a small number of third-party processors to run the site and the newsletter. Each receives only the data needed to perform its function, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — serve the website and store our data on servers located in the United States, and may process technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- Analytics providers — help us measure site traffic, as described in “Cookies and analytics” above.
- Email and newsletter delivery providers — process subscriber email addresses to send and measure the newsletter you signed up for.
- Payment processors — securely handle billing, only if and when we introduce paid subscriptions. Not used today.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
International data transfers
Honduras Daily is operated from the United States and our service providers are primarily based in the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S. (including from the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Honduras), your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
How long we keep your information
We keep newsletter subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward, and analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. We retain messages and submissions for as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information.
- Portability — request your information in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
EU/UK residents (GDPR): you have the rights above and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — we do not sell or share your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, email editor@hondurasdaily.com. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
Children’s privacy
The site is intended for a general, adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
