Credit Growth

Roberto Lagos, president of the Central Bank of Honduras, said July inflation data should show a deceleration, and the bank will review monetary-policy instruments to reduce excess money supply without harming credit growth, which has risen 6.7% in the first seven months of 2026.

Honduran bank liquidity reached L195.9 billion (about $7.8 billion) in March 2026 as deposits continued to grow faster than the credit portfolio, leaving lenders with excess funds that could boost lending later in the year if loan demand increases.
