Infrastructure Minister Aníbal Ehrler announced that half of the Germania Bridge on Tegucigalpa's southern exit will be closed tonight.

Tegucigalpa Mayor Juan Diego Zelaya says the expansion of Puente Germania will be completed in early October, according to municipal authorities.

Structural beams have arrived at the site of the Germania Bridge project south of Tegucigalpa, allowing crews to begin assembly work aimed at easing traffic congestion on a key route to southern Honduras.

Tegucigalpa city hall will shut Germania Bridge completely from 9 p.m. Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday for the installation of structural beams.

Construction continues on the third section of the Germanía Bridge in southern Tegucigalpa, with crews placing the fourth column and pouring the seventh of fourteen planned deck slabs to improve access to the area.
