Honduras's Liquidation Commission says it is wrapping up the closure of nine public institutions—including the Planning Ministry, the Cinematography Directorate, and the Institute of Historical Memory—with asset transfers, severance payments, and creditor settlements nearly finished by August.

César Chirinos, president of the National Association of Public Employees (Andeph), reported that mid- and lower-level officials are allegedly demanding improper payments, saying the practice inflates public spending and procurement costs, and pledged to provide details directly to President Asfura.

Former prosecutors office staff fired since February 2026 filed a complaint against Attorney General Dagoberto Aspra alleging unjustified dismissals and nonpayment of severance and labor benefits, though Finance Ministry records show funds were transferred to the agency.
