Honduras's registry has enrolled about 100,000 children so far but must register roughly 1.5 million by December to meet its 2026 goal, expanding enrollment brigades nationwide to schools starting in September.

The National Registry of Persons will start distributing the new child identity document (DINNA) in May 2027, after completing enrollment of minors in schools through April 2027; the card will include biometric data and be held by parents, not children.

Honduras's National Registry clarified that the new DINNA child identification card, launching enrollment in 2026 with card distribution expected in March 2027, will not replace birth certificates but will add biometric data and facial recognition to strengthen protection against trafficking and help identify migrant children.

The National Registry (RNP) began enrolling children ages 6–17 in a new biometric identity document called Dinna, targeting 2.3 million minors through 23,836 schools nationwide in a $40 million World Bank–funded program aimed at guaranteeing the right to identity and preventing trafficking.
