Guanaja's mayor says the municipality is reconstructing concrete bridges damaged by natural disasters, remodeling a school, and working with the national power company to repair generators and deploy a new one to address nightly blackouts lasting three to four hours.

ENEE announced rolling blackouts on the island of Guanaja from August 7 to 20 to manage a 450 kW power shortage caused by failed generators and solar system deficiencies affecting over 2,000 users, while the utility arranges an additional generator to restore supply.

A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck 107 kilometers northeast of Guanaja in the Bay Islands on June 10 at a depth of 22 kilometers, with no immediate damage reports on the mainland.

The municipality of Guanaja has prohibited dogs from roaming the streets, citing damage to garbage bags and sanitation problems, and will fine owners who allow pets to wander unsupervised.
