Honduras will distribute approximately 2,100 units of heavy machinery worth $244 million to all 298 municipalities, with each receiving a standardized kit including tractors, graders, and water trucks, plus factory maintenance and satellite monitoring.

Infrastructure Minister Aníbal Erhel announced that Honduras has received 148 heavy machines for distribution to municipalities to improve road maintenance and emergency response, with more equipment arriving over the next 10 months.

The Public Works Secretariat (SIP) is purchasing machinery and equipment worth L4.8 billion (about $178 million) to strengthen local municipalities' road maintenance capacity nationwide, including GPS systems, maintenance guarantees, and operator training for tertiary road networks.

The government will begin delivering heavy machinery—part of a L3.5 billion (about $140 million) purchase—to all 298 municipalities in August to help local governments maintain rural roads and respond faster to weather-related emergencies.

Infrastructure Minister Aníbal Ehrler announced arrival of 1,524 vehicles for the national road agency, aimed at accelerating highway maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction work across the country, with priority given to strategic corridors and deteriorated routes.
