A new 1-kilometer paved road between Jutiapa and Balfate in Atlántida department is now complete, officials say it will serve more than 38,000 people and spur development in the region.

Members of Congress from La Paz are pushing a decree to spend 19.5 million lempiras (about $780,000) paving a 3-kilometer access road to San Pedro de Tutule, a major coffee-producing municipality whose current connections flood during the rainy season.

The road connecting Mapulaca and El Carrizal in Erandique, Lempira, is deteriorating with potholes, rocks, and steep dips that pose safety risks to drivers and passengers, especially during rainy season.

Construction of 1,000 meters of concrete road is progressing in the community of 6 de Mayo, Macuelizo, in Santa Bárbara, aimed at improving mobility and addressing traffic congestion in a high-traffic area.

Infrastructure Minister Aníbal Ehrler met with representatives from 16 communities to coordinate a 100-million-lempira (about $4 million) project for paving and road maintenance in La Tigra to improve connectivity and development.
