Honduras has controlled an avian influenza outbreak in a commercial farm and is preparing technical documentation to resume poultry and egg exports to regional trading partners.

Honduras is keeping its avian influenza health emergency in effect after confirming one case in a commercial poultry farm and over 500 cases in wild birds, saying that lifting the emergency could ease biosecurity measures and allow spread to commercial operations.

Agriculture Minister Moisés Molina announced a six-month health emergency for highly pathogenic avian influenza in backyard poultry, enabling rapid inspections and containment measures across commercial farms and small holdings; the government says chicken and egg production will continue normally.

Honduras's agricultural health authority has confirmed avian influenza in wild birds, particularly black vultures, and has collected about 450 dead birds while monitoring over 150,000 backyard poultry in 90 communities to prevent spread to domestic flocks.
