The Tegucigalpa municipal government is opening free veterinary services for cats over five years old from August 18–20, with 30 spots available and a focus on early detection of kidney disease.

Honduras's agricultural health agency has processed 5,312 laboratory samples and monitored over 8.5 million birds across 125 farms to detect high-pathogenicity H5 avian influenza, focusing on rural communities and backyard flocks deemed most vulnerable to the virus's spread.

Honduras is keeping its avian influenza health emergency in effect after confirming one case in a commercial poultry farm and over 500 cases in wild birds, saying that lifting the emergency could ease biosecurity measures and allow spread to commercial operations.

Senasa director Rafael Rodríguez affirmed that Honduras remains disease-free in its pig herds, a status he said strengthens domestic pork production and ensures safe meat for consumers.

Honduras's agricultural health authority has confirmed avian influenza in wild birds, particularly black vultures, and has collected about 450 dead birds while monitoring over 150,000 backyard poultry in 90 communities to prevent spread to domestic flocks.
