Homer Mejía, head of Health Surveillance, warned that measles can cause severe complications including permanent vision damage, respiratory failure, and death, especially in young children and immunocompromised people.

Health authorities confirmed a third imported measles case in Corinto, Omoa, a border zone in Cortés, as the virus circulates actively in Guatemala and neighboring countries; officials say no community transmission has occurred yet but are intensifying vaccination and contact-tracing efforts.

Health authorities vaccinated 85 people against measles and 69 against influenza at Roatán's international airport on June 3, after Honduras confirmed its first imported measles case — a 27-year-old Guatemalan traveler.

Honduras's Health Ministry confirmed a second imported measles case and urged the public to ensure their measles vaccination schedules are up to date.

Honduras Armed Forces troops transported health workers from the Mocorón Health Center to the village of Rondín, Gracias a Dios, enabling a vaccination drive for children and families in the isolated region.
