Honduras's emergency agency ruled out a tsunami threat to Honduran coasts after a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Panama on October 9, though it continues monitoring sea conditions and regional seismic activity.

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Friday off the Pacific coasts of Guatemala and Mexico, about 650 kilometers west of Tegucigalpa; Honduran authorities initially warned of possible tsunami waves up to 30 centimeters in the Gulf of Fonseca but downgraded the threat after revised measurements showed waves would stay below 10 centimeters.
