Honduras's Property Institute is collecting annual vehicle registration fees on a staggered schedule through December, with an amnesty allowing owners to catch up on 2025 and earlier unpaid fees without penalties, while projecting revenue of L5.4 billion (about $216 million).

Finance Minister Emilio Hernández Hércules said the Public Safety Tax will collect over L6 billion (roughly $240 million) this year — up from L5.3–5.4 billion in prior years — driven by economic growth and higher banking transactions, with funds going to police, courts, prosecutors, defense, and the 911 emergency system.

Honduras's customs authority collected nearly 29 billion lempiras (about $1.09 billion) in the first six months of 2026, up 13.4% from the same period last year, driven by increased import duties and technological upgrades to reduce evasion and contraband.
