Experts warn that the imminent end of Temporary Protected Status for Hondurans could force 30,000–35,000 returnees home by year's end, straining families and the economy as asylum restrictions tighten.

Official data shows 984 Hondurans were deported between June 15–19, averaging 140 per day, as the country records 22,397 deportations so far in 2026, with the International Organization for Migration reporting a 43.3% increase in returns compared to the same period in 2025.

The US deported 17,650 Hondurans in the first five months of 2026, a 71% increase from the same period last year, as the country grapples with the return of migrants who left due to violence, poverty, and lack of opportunity.
