Honduras's state power utility will forgive 100% of accumulated electricity debt—including penalties and interest—for low-income residential customers with average monthly consumption up to 250 kWh, under Article 20 of the Energy Justice Law approved in August.

Honduras's state electricity utility ENEE has begun forgiving accumulated electric bills, penalties, and interest for low-income residential customers with monthly consumption of 250 kilowatt-hours or less, applying the Energy Justice Law.

The government approved a long-term National Housing and Human Settlements Policy on October 17 to coordinate public, private, and financial-sector efforts in addressing Honduras's estimated 1.6 million housing shortage, including subsidies and bonds for low-income families.

Congress president Tomás Zambrano ordered the national power utility to implement a debt-forgiveness program for approximately 80,000–100,000 low-consumption households (under 250 kilowatts) without additional requirements beyond verifying existing debt, as mandated by the Energy Justice Law passed in August.

The Housing Ministry unveiled a 10-year subsidy plan offering grants of up to L82,500 (about $3,300) and monthly payment reductions to help low-income families qualify for mortgages and afford monthly payments on social housing.
