Highway

Congressman José Jaar filed a motion urging the Infrastructure Ministry to work with the road concessionaire to improve signage and complete pending four-lane expansions on the CA-5 highway between Siguatepeque and San Pedro Sula.

Workers are laying 180 meters of fill and building a retaining wall over 10 meters tall on the main Yoro highway, which serves drivers and communities across more than 11 municipalities in the department.

The CA-5 Norte, a 158-kilometer highway built to international standards and connecting Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, records frequent accidents because drivers regularly exceed posted speed limits even in high-risk curves; experts say more than 100 deaths this year have occurred on the corridor alone.
