Coastal erosion in Cedeño, on the Gulf of Fonseca, has pushed back the shoreline 135 meters since 2004, destroying homes and livelihoods and driving young people to migrate abroad in search of economic survival.

Copeco warned that Honduras will face heavy rainfall and electrical storms from June 15–21 as a trough and tropical wave move across the country, with the southern and western departments expected to see the most intense precipitation.

Authorities have ordered the suspension of fishing and navigation in Honduras's Pacific Gulf due to waves up to 8 feet high from Tropical Storm Cristina, affecting at least 150 families and 2,500 fishers in the region.

Honduras's national weather and disaster-management agency is monitoring a low-pressure system southeast of the Gulf of Fonseca that is forecast to bring heavier rainfall starting tomorrow night.
