Honduras unveiled a 2026–2030 incentive strategy for agriculture with FAO support, aiming to attract investment, create jobs, incorporate technology, and boost competitiveness in a sector that contributes 13% of GDP and over a third of exports.

The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization warns that 150,839 agricultural households—mostly in drought-stricken regions including Santa Bárbara, Choluteca, and Lempira, plus flood-prone Cortés—will need emergency aid this year due to droughts, floods, lost crops, and livestock disease.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization will invest $2.15 million to strengthen food security for 4,000 families in Choluteca, Valle, and Comayagua affected by drought and climate variability through cash transfers, agricultural kits, irrigation systems, and grain-bank support.
