The Tegucigalpa municipal government and the state power company are removing unused cables from poles along the historic center's main streets between the San Rafael bridge and near the Health Ministry, aiming to improve urban appearance and reduce hazards.

The European Union will provide approximately 15 billion euros (roughly $16 billion) to finance modernization of Honduras's electrical transmission lines.

The state power utility is installing a 30-megawatt transformer at the Santa Rosa de Copán substation (over 50 million lempiras, roughly $2 million) and building a 5-kilometer transmission line to reduce low-voltage problems affecting thousands of customers across Copán, Lempira, and Ocotepeque.
