A Honduran court has ordered the trial of four men accused in the disappearance of American tourist Angie Peña, missing since January 2022 from Roatán, to be conducted in closed session, barring press and public access; the prosecution argues secrecy protects the investigation and potentially Peña's safety if she is alive.

Josué Enríquez and Yair Vega, both 17, have been missing from Baracoa, Puerto Cortés, since Wednesday; their families are seeking public help to locate them.

A court in Tegucigalpa has stalled for 18 months on two appeals challenging the pretrial detention of four men accused of the July 2020 disappearance of five Garífuna community leaders from Triunfo de la Cruz, with prosecutors filing a motion to force a ruling.

The Public Ministry will formally question former Deputy Security Minister Julissa Villanueva and demand she submit evidence she claims to hold about the disappearance of Angie Peña, after she publicly accused the Criminal Investigation Agency (ATIC) of obstructing the investigation.

Luane Morazán Castillo, 23, disappeared on April 19, 2023, while six months pregnant, telling her husband she was going to buy dinner but never returning; police have made little public progress on the case, which reflects a broader crisis of missing women in Honduras.
