Honduras's energy ministry announced new fuel prices effective July 27, with gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and vehicle gas rising by up to 5.59 lempiras per gallon in San Pedro Sula, while the government maintains temporary subsidies on regular gasoline and diesel.

Gasoline, diesel, and kerosene prices increased across Honduras starting July 20, with sector officials attributing the hikes to Middle East instability affecting global oil supplies and urging consumers to adopt fuel-saving measures.

Diesel and kerosene prices rose 47.8% and 41.5% respectively from January through May 2026 compared to the same period last year, though both fuels declined month-over-month in May.

A petroleum-industry analyst predicts diesel and gasoline prices in Honduras will drop modestly over the next four to six weeks as global crude stabilizes around $67 a barrel, with diesel potentially falling about 2 lempiras per gallon.

Honduras will cut gasoline and kerosene prices by more than four lempiras per gallon starting June 8, while domestic liquefied gas remains frozen under a government subsidy.

Honduras imported 2.99 million barrels of diesel in the first four months of 2026, the largest share and fastest-growing fuel, followed by bunker fuel and premium gasoline at 1.84 million and 1.83 million barrels respectively.
