Affordable Housing

Honduras's pension and housing fund RAP has L3.86 billion (about $155 million) available for home loans this year, with RAP director Juan Carlos Sikaffy saying the fund aims to broaden access to housing credit for affiliated workers.

Honduras faces a housing deficit of 1.57 million units, according to UNAH, with roughly 45,000 units added to the gap each year as high costs and limited financing block most families from homeownership.

Honduras's banking sector and the government announced a new housing finance program targeting families earning less than two minimum wages, combining Banhprovi funds with private bank credit to expand access to affordable homes.

The CAF development bank approved $400 million in financing and technical support for Honduras's Integral Social Housing Program, which aims to expand affordable, accessible, and climate-resilient housing and strengthen the sector's financial institutions.
