Tegucigalpa Mayor Juan Diego Zelaya has suspended repairs on the Pope Francis Bridge and ordered a fifth independent technical assessment, saying private contractors—not public funds—will pay to fix design flaws and structural damage found since the bridge opened in November 2025.
