The Tegucigalpa municipal government has stepped up pothole-filling and road resurfacing across the capital, including major thoroughfares and neighborhoods like Corralitos and Luis Landa, as part of ongoing street maintenance.

The capital's municipal government has started rehabilitating the nine-kilometer road to El Hatillo using hot-asphalt recycling technology, a 90-million-lempira project expected to take 30 to 60 days and improve safety and connectivity for thousands of daily users.

Residents of at least 12 communities in the El Hatillo and La Tigra areas blocked the main road demanding urgent repairs to roughly 12 kilometers of deteriorated highway that community leaders say has been neglected for years and causes accidents and vehicle damage.

Tegucigalpa's municipal government has completed road improvements on about 33 kilometers (20 miles) of streets in the capital, a project that cost 120 million lempiras (about $4.8 million), according to Mayor Juan Diego Zelaya.

La Reforma Street in Tegucigalpa's El Manchén neighborhood is 90% complete in repairs following a sinkhole near San Pablo Market, with authorities saying the work will soon restore traffic flow and safety on this key alternate route in the capital.
