Olimpia came from behind to defeat Motagua 3–1 in Round 3 of the 2026 Apertura season, extending its unbeaten start to 3–0 while the defending champion struggles with consecutive losses.

The National Police confirmed nearly 800 officers will be deployed inside and outside the Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés for this Thursday's inaugural Honduras Supercup match between Olimpia and Motagua, with five security cordons planned.

Honduran champion Motagua has signed 23-year-old Italo-Honduran center-back Valerio Marinacci, a left-footed defender who trained in Lazio's youth academy, as the club's second reinforcement ahead of upcoming tournaments.
