About 500 Honduran migrants left San Pedro Sula on Tuesday by public bus for Corinto on the Honduras–Guatemala border, citing lack of employment and economic hardship as they begin their journey northward toward the United States.

A caravan of about 300 Hondurans and other Central Americans dubbed 'Fe y Esperanza' arrived in Tapachula, Mexico, after departing San Pedro Sula and crossing Guatemala, with members seeking to continue north — some aiming for the United States and others hoping to stay in Mexico if they can regularize their status.

Guatemalan migration authorities say the caravan that left San Pedro Sula on Sunday has broken up into small groups moving independently, with about 250 of the roughly 400 Hondurans identified between Monday and Tuesday having entered legally, 106 ordered to leave after irregular entry, and 10 teenagers aged 15–17 placed under state protection.

A group of deported Hondurans arrived at San Pedro Sula's main bus terminal on September 22, while another caravan of Hondurans continues through Guatemala toward Mexico.

Approximately 400 Hondurans who departed San Pedro Sula on Sunday crossed into Guatemala at El Cinchado; Guatemalan authorities registered over 250 who entered legally, issued deportation orders to more than 100 who entered irregularly, and identified eight unaccompanied minors.

Dozens of Honduran men, women, and families left San Pedro Sula on September 20, heading toward the Corinto border crossing with Guatemala in what appears to be the first such caravan of 2026.

Juan Flores, president of the Fundación 15 de Septiembre, alerted Honduran and U.S. authorities to social-media promotion of a migrant caravan scheduled to depart San Pedro Sula on June 20, saying unscrupulous groups are organizing it.
