Fourteen of Honduras's twenty electrical circuits with the highest losses are concentrated in the Sula Valley, together accounting for 2.09 billion lempiras in the first half of 2026, a problem experts say must be tackled as a priority to stabilize the national power system.

The state utility ENEE will cut power on October 4 in dozens of communities in Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Cortés, and Comayagua for scheduled maintenance, with outages lasting between 8 hours and 9.5 hours depending on location.

Congress approved a motion calling on the state power utility (Enee) to open dialogue with Lake Yojoa tourism operators about sustainable use of a 630-meter canal section, after the expiration of a prior agreement left hundreds of families dependent on the activity at risk.

The state utility ENEE announced scheduled power cuts in several neighborhoods of Choloma, Cortés, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on July 13 for transmission-line maintenance.

ENEE will cut power for maintenance in Puerto Cortés, San Pedro Sula, and Tatumbla on June 29, with outages lasting up to six hours and affecting businesses, schools, clinics, and residential neighborhoods.

State utility ENEE has announced planned power cuts on Monday, September 7: San Pedro Sula and surrounding areas will lose power from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and towns in El Paraíso from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for circuit maintenance and project work.
