Economists analyzing Honduras's employment crisis say the average worker earns around L9,000 ($360) monthly, a sum experts say cannot sustain a family and is contributing to migration.

Honduras has 3.79 million employed workers with average monthly income reaching L10,356 (about $415), up 6.9% from 2025, though unemployment rose to 7.1% and 61.1% of households remain below the poverty line.

The official gazette published a salary increase of L1,200 (about $48) per month for central government employees, agreed between the government and three labor unions on August 26.
