Screen Addiction

Mente Sana, La Prensa's mental-health initiative, held sessions with about 500 parents at two San Pedro Sula schools to discuss the effects of excessive screen and social-media use on children and adolescents, marking the program's first parent-focused outreach since its 2024 launch.

A survey of nearly 5,500 Honduran children aged 9 to 17 found that one in five spends four to eight hours daily on social media, with psychologists cautioning that excessive device use contributes to attention problems, anxiety, and depression.
