Pacific Cyclone

Hurricane Polo reached Category 5 strength off Mexico's Pacific coast with maximum sustained winds of 270 km/h (168 mph), and while it poses no direct threat to Honduras, officials say Pacific cyclones can indirectly affect the country's southern and southwestern regions through shifts in atmospheric patterns.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two low-pressure areas off Central America and Mexico with 70% and 80% chances of cyclonic development within seven days; tropical storm Amanda poses no threat to the region.
