Electoral Board

Congress lacks the 86 votes needed to appoint new representatives to Honduras's key electoral bodies—the National Registry and the Clean Politics Unit—after negotiations stalled since February over how to distribute seats among parties and whether to include independents.

Congressman Antonio Rivera Callejas says Congress will vote to extend by three to five months the deadline for the CNE electoral board to seat its third full board member, allowing it to meet quorum with a substitute member in the interim.
