A Dominican rice variety called Juma 6920 is yielding over 120 quintals per manzana (about 60% more than traditional varieties) in Santa Bárbara trials, part of a government effort to reduce Honduras's dependence on rice imports and raise national production from under 500,000 to 700,000 quintals annually.
