Honduras's Appellate Criminal Court declared inadmissible an amparo (constitutional protection) appeal by retired general Roosevelt Hernández, who faces charges of inciting discrimination and violating fundamental rights linked to military social-media posts targeting journalists; the case now moves to the Constitutional Court and a preliminary hearing is set for September 14.

An attorney asked Honduras's Constitutional Court on Thursday to enforce Article 374 of the constitution, which bars amendment of the presidential term-limit rule (Article 239) that prohibits anyone who has served as president from running again.

Honduras's Constitutional Court accepted a legal challenge filed by former attorney general Johel Zelaya against the congressional decree that removed him from office in a political trial, though the court declined to suspend the removal while the case proceeds.
