Banking Access

Honduras's regulated financial system reported 8.06 million active deposit accounts at the end of 2025, expanding access to banking services and formal-sector participation for Hondurans.

Honduras's banking regulator released its 2026 Financial Inclusion Report, highlighting growth in point-of-sale card readers and ATMs as key drivers of broader access to financial services across the country.

Honduras's banking regulator (CNBS) unveiled a five-year National Financial Inclusion Strategy (2025–2030) aimed at expanding access to formal financial services for women, youth, rural communities, small businesses, elderly people, and indigenous and Afro-Caribbean populations.

The CNBS Gender Gap Report 2025 shows men hold more bank accounts per capita in Honduras's high-activity economic regions, while women show higher financial participation in rural areas and the country's western region.

Women now lead deposit-account ownership in Honduras, underscoring growing female access to financial products, according to the banking regulator's 2025 gender-gap report.
