Agrarian Law

Congress agricultural and food-security committees convened producers from five departments and government agencies to draft a law addressing land tenure, resource conflicts, and sustainable agriculture in regions including Colón, El Paraíso, Gracias a Dios, Olancho, and Yoro.

Indigenous, Garífuna, and peasant leaders protested at the National Agrarian Institute in Tegucigalpa, demanding a halt to forced evictions under the 2026 Agro-Industrial Law and an end to criminalization of land-rights defenders, while calling for the removal of the INA director.

Honduras's new agroindustrial protection law has entered force, triggering initial evictions in Choluteca as authorities enforce rules meant to shield farm production and infrastructure, though human-rights groups warn it could deepen rural land conflicts.
