Energy Secretary Eduardo Oviedo said Honduras is drafting terms for a new electricity-generation auction in two stages—one adding roughly 600 megawatts and a later phase of up to 1,000 megawatts—pending congressional approval of energy reforms now before lawmakers; the sector will need about $6 billion in generation, transmission, and distribution investment.
