An El Heraldo investigation found that Libre members of Congress channeled nearly 224 million lempiras ($9 million) in social assistance—food vouchers, scholarships, and infrastructure aid—to party members and their circles between 2023 and 2024, even as registered beneficiaries said they never received the promised benefits.
