Honduras Has Logged Just 46 Femicide Convictions in 12 Years

Published on Honduras Daily · Jul 18, 2026 · Originally reported July 17, 2026 by Contracorriente

An investigation by Contracorriente found that Honduras, which has Latin America's highest femicide rate, has won only 46 femicide convictions since the crime was written into law in 2013, while 54% of cases that reached court remain unresolved, laying bare pervasive impunity and the state's failure to curb violence against women.
