Ad specs

Every size we run, what makes an ad work at these dimensions, and the things we'll send back. Written for whoever is making the artwork — no design background assumed.

Your ad is one image. We render the artwork and nothing else — we add no headline, no body text and no button of our own. Your logo, your offer and any wording all live inside the file, in your branding.

You don't have to make any of this. Send a logo and a sentence about what you want to promote and we'll build the artwork at every size, show you a proof, and put nothing live until you say yes. There's no design fee on any package.

File rules

  • PNG, JPG or WebP. Static only — no animation, GIF or video.
  • Under 150 KB for the site, under 100 KB for the newsletter. A heavy ad slows the page it sits on.
  • Export at the exact pixel size listed. It is already 2× the box it renders into, which is what keeps it sharp on a phone screen.
  • Match the ratio exactly. The slot is fixed at that shape, so artwork at a different ratio gets cropped to fit — and it is your artwork that loses the edges.
  • The link must be https and go to your own site — no redirect chains or tracking cloaks.
  • Send us one line describing the ad. It becomes the alt text a blind reader hears, and what shows if the image fails to load.

What works

  • Put everything in the image: your logo, your offer, your phone number or WhatsApp if that's the action you want. We render the artwork and nothing else — no headline, no button, no text of ours underneath.
  • Keep the logo and every word inside the middle 90%. Treat the outer edge as decoration only.
  • One message. A banner gets less than a second — an offer, a name, or a number, not all three.
  • Set any text at 32px or larger in the file. That lands at 16px on screen, which is the floor for something a person will actually read on a phone.
  • Use strong contrast: dark text on a light panel, or light text on a dark one.
  • Give the artwork its own background colour. The site is a warm off-white, so a white or transparent background reads as a hole in the page.
  • Make the logo big enough to recognise at the size it really appears — 320px wide on a phone, not the size it looks on your laptop.

What we'll send back

We review every ad before it runs. These are the reasons we ask for a change.

  • Don't make it look like a news story. Ads must read as ads — that firewall is why readers trust the briefing your ad sits in, and we will send back anything imitating our layout or typeface.
  • Don't put the word 'Sponsored' in the artwork. We add that label above every ad and it cannot be removed, so yours would be the second one.
  • Don't use flashing colour, fake countdowns, or fake buttons, close icons or play arrows.
  • Don't lay text over a busy photograph. At 320px wide it becomes unreadable.
  • Don't run essential words to the edge, and don't put them in the outer 5%.
  • Don't use thin, light-weight fonts. They disappear at banner size.
  • Don't claim a price, discount or guarantee you can't honour, and don't name a competitor.
